How to motivate your child

This book title is almost guaranteed to be offensive to teenagers! The book is clearly directed to conscientious parents. How many parents will read a whole book?

Dr Andrew James MartinNonetheless, this book collects much established (research-based) wisdom about study, and adds the concepts of boosters, mufflers and guzzlers that have emerged from Dr Martin’s research. Important lists are highlighted in callout boxes, and there is a one-page summary at the end of each chapter. The text is easy to read and navigate. Separate chapters discuss applications to boys, gifted and talented, and disengaged students.

A compact and accessible collection of ideas for parents and teachers, that well recognises that the study is the initiative of the student and the adult role is to enable the student to take control.
